Ekadasi is the eleventh tithi of either Sukla or Krishna paksham phase of the Moon.
Ekadasi is a day to observe a fast to please the Lord; some may use it as a means to create a balance in us and strengthen our inner self. Generally, during ekadasi fasting, grains are entirely avoided; this means grains, pulses and their derivatives like bread and other flour preparations.
While it is good to go without food through out the day, care should be taken not to strain the body too much. Fruits, fruit juices and other light food with water could be taken to maintain the fasting.
Fasting, not just Ekadasi fasting, when done right gives the body a feeling of lightness, as the toxins are washed away and the body feels rejuvenated at the end of the day; if you are feeling tired and down, then your fasting is probably not right.
Those that are born on the Ekadasi tithi will be noticed even when they are young by others for their uniqueness. They are a set of people who will have the ability to learn everything about anything that interests them. They are generally very wealthy.
