It is said that when you are born in this world, your match is already determined. Our search is to find out who that match is. The matching jathagam is already out there somewhere, our efforts are focussed on identifying it.

Identifying the matching jathagam

Here again, there are a few techniques that are followed time immemorial. The first and foremost technique is the process of matching the jathagams that come to us. Each of the jathakams are evaluated, compared with the boy or girl's jathagam. The 10 porutham check is done on the jathakam, one at a time.

The 10 Poruthams

Yoni porutham, vedha porutham, vasya porutham, stree deergha porutham, rasiyathipadhi porutham, rasi, rajju, mahendram, gana and dina porutham. Naadi porutham and varna porutham are the other two poruthams.

The Omens

All the important poruthams are found matching. Or, alternately, some of the poruthams are found matching. The families are in two minds as to whether to go ahead with the marriage or not. In these cases, there are certain omens that the elders use to interpret the cosmic communication with reference to the match.

Some indicators that are used are finding the doors closed when visiting the house of the girl. Or getting hurt and blood letting by small injuries. As they are starting for the girl's house some stranger coming in with some positive news or bringing in some sweets.

The omens may be subtle or they may be explicit, but they are always there. These are some methods that are used to identify the matching jathagam.
