Lord is a Swyambumurthy here. Parents perform the Anna Prasana ritual in the temple hoping that the child would never face food problem in life. This is one of 274 padalpetra Sthalam. It is here that Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvathi gave appearance in their wedding posture to Sage Agasthiyar. Saint Gnanasambadar at the age of three was left on the steps of the Brahmma Theertham in Sirkali temple by his father. The child started crying due to hunger. Lord Shiva asked Goddess Parvathi to feed the child which the mother did. When Saint Gnanasambandar father returned and found drops of milk on the fact of the child, he asked the child who had fed him. Saint Gnanasambandar showed his father the direction of the temple and sung the first hymn of
